The power cord
A widely overlooked feature of a vacuum cleaner is the power cord. In marketing the focus is the power of the motor, but as I have deducted earlier too much power can some times result in less effective cleaning. As a matter of fact, the power cord is at least as important as the suction power. It is a tremendously important feature of the machine. And it is the length of the cord that is important. In the quest of reducing the vacuum cleaners volume it is usually the compartment for the cord that takes the blow and the machine is engineered with a short cord. The smaller the machine, the smaller this compartment is. The smaller compartment the shorter cord. In older buildings the distance between the outlets can be far and it makes the vacuum cleaning complicated. The bigger the are is that you can reach in one go without shifting socket the more efficient vacuum cleaning.
